DJ apologizes to Nebbercracker for his losses, but Nebbercracker thanks the kids for freeing him and his wife from being trapped for 45 years. Later, children in their Halloween costumes are lined up at the site of the house, where DJ, Chowder, and Jenny help return the toys to their owners. Jenny's mother picks her up, and DJ and Chowder go trick-or-treating, which they previously felt they were too old for. The trio consult Reginald "Skull" Skulinski, a supposed expert on the supernatural. They learn the house is a rare monster created when a human soul merges with a man-made structure, and that it can only be killed by destroying its heart.

DJ apologises to him for the loss of his house and wife, but Mr. Nebbercracker thanks DJ and the kids for freeing him and Constance. That night, DJ receives phone calls from the house with no one on the other end. Eavesdropping on Zee's boyfriend Bones, DJ hears him tell Zee about losing his kite on Nebbercracker's lawn when he was a child, and that Nebbercracker supposedly ate his wife. Starring the voices of Mitchel Musso, Sam Lerner, Spencer Locke, Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal, the film features human characters animated using live-action motion capture.
Storyline
Later, D.J.'s friend, Charles "Chowder" Peterson, loses his basketball on Nebbercracker's lawn; D.J. He appears to suffer a heart attack and is presumed dead by the duo as he is taken away in an ambulance. The house lures the officers closer and then attacks and eats both of them. Constance then feasts on the police car; DJ, Chowder, and Jenny are able to escape from the car, but are then trapped inside the house. And for the most part they talk and behave like real kids, too, or at least like characters drawn from the rich tradition of plucky, intellectually curious kiddie-lit heroes.
After Zee kicks him out, Bones notices his kite in the front door of Nebbercracker's house, tries to retrieve it and is abducted. And Chowder later investigate and learn that the house is possessed by a poltergeist. On Halloween, they save Jennifer "Jenny" Bennett, who is selling candy, from the house. Jenny calls police officers Landers and Lister, but the house stays quiet when the officers arrive and they dismiss the report.
In this film, 3 pre-teens (DJ Walters, Chowder and Jenny Bennett) discovered that an old man's house is really a living breathing monster. Monsters under the bed are scary enough, but what happens when an entire house is out to get you? Three teens aim to find out when they go up against a decrepit neighboring home and unlock its frightening secrets. Chowder engages the house in battle once more, while DJ and Jenny ascend a nearby crane, however, this time, Constance gets the upper hand and rips the excavator’s backhoe off, then eats the excavator.
They fall into the basement and find a collection of toys accumulated from Mr. Nebbercracker's lawn, as well as a cage containing the body of Mr. Nebbercracker's wife encased in cement. Jenny wondered why Mr. Nebbercracker build a shrine if he murdered her. Chowder suggested that he felt guilty or something but DJ, determined to find our the truth knew that Mr. Nebbercracker was hiding something. DJ, Chowder and Jenny force the house to vomit them outside by grabbing its uvula. Mr. Nebbercracker arrived home alive and revealed that the house is possessed by his wife Constance. When he was young, Horace met Constance who was an unwilling member of a circus sideshow and fell in love with her despite her obesity.
As the credits roll, the victims who were eaten by the house emerges from the hole. Bones finds out that Zee is now dating Skull, then Officer Landers and Officer Lister leave to "investigate" some of the trick-or-treating candy & the dog urinates on a nearby jack-o'-lantern enough to put out its flame. In the aftermath, the quartet gather at the house's still-intact basement, returning everything Nebbercracker stole to their rightful owners.

DJ tells Mr. Nebbercracker it is time to let the house go, but it overhears. The house breaks free from its foundation and chases the group to a construction site. Nebbercracker attempts to convince the house that it should be destroyed while holding stick of dynamite, but the house refuses. As it tries to eat him, Chowder fights the house off with an excavator, causing it to fall into a pit. DJ is given the dynamite and he and Jenny climb to the top of a tower crane while Chowder distracts the horse.
The postures and gestures of DJ (Mitchell Musso) and his pals — a pudgy fellow named Chowder (Sam Lerner) and a preppy redhead named Jenny (Spencer Locke) — have an authentically loose and antic look. They seem like real kids, rather than like super-cute, big-headed cartoon moppets. Walters leave town for the weekend, leaving him in the care of his babysitter Zee. DJ has been spying on his elderly neighbor Mr. Horace Nebbercracker, who confiscates any item landing in his yard. After DJ's best friend Chowder loses his basketball on Nebbercracker's lawn, DJ is caught by Nebbercracker trying to recover it but the enraged owner apparently suffers a heart attack and is taken away by an ambulance.
This further arouses DJ’s suspicions about the house, and he calls Chowder to help him investigate. Meanwhile, Bones, the boyfriend of DJ’s babysitter Zee, teases Nebbercracker’s house out of anger over having his kite taken away from him when he was a kid. Constance is constantly picked on by people, especially kids, because of her obesity.
Jenny then calls Officer Landers and Officer Lister, but does not believe their story. Later the trio seek advice from Skull who is claimed to be an expert on the supernatural. They learn that the house is a Domus Mactabilis (Deadly Home in Latin) a supernatural being created when a human soul merges with structures. The only way to kill the house is to destroy its heart which it's source of life. They conclude that the heart must be the fireplace as DJ realises that the chimney has been smoking since Mr. Nebbercracker died.
